  1. 01

Break the drive into two to three hour legs with a rest stop at each break.

  2. 02

Mark fuel stations roughly every 150 miles and identify one alternate per stop.

  3. 03

Download offline maps for the full route plus a 30-mile buffer.

  4. 04

Check the forecast for each leg and note any severe weather windows.

  5. 05

Share your route and ETAs with someone who is not on the trip.
